Several of my pieces have the theme, SOAR. Whenever I see a bird soaring, I stop and stare. It brings me peace. I equate soaring with freedom, which is defined in part as, "the state of being unrestricted." Although I can't float on the breeze like a bird (well, I CHOOSE not to sky dive or do any other sports where humans fly through the air, LOL), my spirit is always free to SOAR.
This piece is 12 x 12 x .75 on birchwood cradleboard.
The floral butterfly is 3-D. Zoom in, and note that the butterfly's body is a hummingbird. The heart is made of tissue paper and matte medium, which acts like a glue.
